Hayward, Wisconsin River Drift Boat Trips
The drift boats that we use have evolved from the early French explorer’s boats, the bateau. The bateau was a shallow-draft, flat-bottom boat used extensively across North America, especially in the colonial period and in the fur trade from the mid 1600’s to the mid 1800’s. The dory or drift boat expanded the design of the bateau and became in the early 1900’s a wider, lighter and more nimble boat principally to accommodate fishermen safely and comfortably down the river. Our boats incorporate the time-tested design of drift boats coupled with modern materials and amenities. With safety and comfort in mind, our drift boats make the ideal water craft for a boat ride or, “bateau mouche,” the pleasure boat.
